Landing on Flowers

·155 words·1 min

Redid the bee game in 1080p. Adjusting the constants was tricky, I couldn’t just multiply everything by some factor. That made the controls feel very muddy.

Also my assets are all the wrong size… for now. I’ll replace things over time.

Right now I want to get landing on flowers to feel good.

x-velocity should be near zero. y-velocity I’d like to see it shift from upwards to zero to downwards slightly then cut to the landed sprite, ideally a few pixels down from its current position.

So if the bee is in the landing hit area, and the y-velocity changes direction, then record the timestamp. A few hundred milliseconds after that, if it’s still in the hit area and the x-velocity is near zero then land.

Sounds okay in English.

That worked out surprisingly well!

No point in fine tuning further until I’ve got bee sprites that are closer to the end goal.
